asbdominican2013: This trip focuses on the community development and education system of the Dominican Republic. Students will learn how they, as US citizens, can stand in solidarity with the Dominican people and use the resources at their disposal to improve the educational infrastructure and learning spaces of students. Students will not only gain experience of the world outside of developed countries to identify commonalities in human experiences that all people share, but also come to recognize that issues of education and development transcend national and cultural borders. This trip is designed to provide an opportunity for participants to explore the educational system and culture of the Dominican Republic. To this end, the trip will also stress the importance of post-trip activism that accompanies the work we do on the ground.
